Questions about RAASTA

RAASTA is a free, interactive 3D Indian city that runs in your web browser. You explore an illustrated island town — a chai tapri, temple hill, garba ground, cassette shop, hilltop palace, railway station and river — and every place and ride plays its own hand-picked playlist.

Yes. RAASTA is completely free, with no sign-up, no download and no app to install. Open www.raasta.world in a browser and start exploring.

Each stop has a playlist that matches its mood: Bollywood and Hindi film songs in the city, bhajans and aarti at Temple Hill, garba and dandiya at the Garba Ground, retro cassette-era classics at the Cassette Shop, rain songs on the Monsoon Ride and late-night music on the Night Ride.

Music streams from YouTube Music, with Spotify embeds as a fallback. RAASTA does not host or download any songs itself.

You can ride an auto rickshaw, city taxi, city car, city bus, highway truck, the local train, a motorcycle, a scooter and a shikara boat on the river. Each ride has its own travel playlist.

Yes. RAASTA works on phones, tablets and laptops in any modern browser that supports WebGL. If the 3D city cannot load on a device, every place and music stop is still available from the Places list.

Raasta is a Hindi and Urdu word meaning road or the way. The site is built around the idea of taking the scenic route through an everyday Indian street, with music for every turn.

Anyone who loves Indian music or misses Indian street life: people looking for a Bollywood or devotional playlist, the Indian diaspora, students, and anyone who wants a calm, explorable world to listen in.
